One of the the things that makes Avita Yoga unique is the use of the muscles (passively and actively) to access the bones and joints, which in turn provide a gateway to the nervous system and ultimately, the mind. It is practiced and taught in a way that makes it available and beneficial to all types of bodies regardless of age and ability.
The yoga market is wide open because there is a large, untapped segment of the population wanting a way to regain the movement they once had, and resolve old injuries without creating new ones. Avita Yoga is the way!
To be truly comfortable in body, one must also be comfortable in the mind.
Avita Yoga is a moving meditation that directly addresses the needs of the body while using it as a gateway to the mind where all lasting healing occurs. We tend to think of the body and mind as two unconnected entities, often seeking help for each of them separately. There is a time and place for those specific types of assistance, but Avita Yoga capitalizes on the interconnection of mind and body and uses it to access the healing power of the mind. If we make it only about the body, then we are cutting ourselves short and it may not even be considered yoga at all. Yoga joins, and to join is to heal.
People want to be a part of something that works – something that helps physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Avita Yoga is a method that effectively meets the student according to their body type and temperament which is one reason it often brings quick, positive results. As a teacher, the more precisely you are able to do this, the better and quicker the results will be for your students.
It’s not only what you teach, but how you teach it and this training provides both the “what” and the “how.”
The Avita Yoga Teacher
A teacher must have the sincere desire to help others, which sounds trite until you realize that your desire to help others cannot happen without also helping yourself. As a student in this teacher training, you will learn how to take care of yourself. Honest self-study keeps you healthy, informed and whole as you help others. In this healing process, your comprehension is improved, and your words will have deeper meaning.
As teachers, we must first commit to our own healing, the process and practice of which makes up the foundation of this training. To share the practice is a deeply fulfilling responsibility. You will fill your life’s “toolbox” with tools that will help you and those around you, for a lifetime. To share Avita Yoga and the peace and happiness it brings fosters the same in you, which is what makes the experience good for your students but exceptionally good for you, the continually aspiring teacher. Remember, yoga joins and to join is to heal in heart and mind.

These are the important questions that must be asked to become an informed student, and if we are inspired to become good teachers we must remain good students. One of the simplest definitions of yoga is the study of self.
There will be anatomy, physiology, and theory as they relate to Avita Yoga. You will meet new people and make new friends. There will be movement, laughter and a lot of fun. The primary intent of Avita Yoga Essentials is to identify hidden obstacles and cultivate a personal home practice to help resolve them. How will you successfully guide another through their practice if you cannot guide yourself through your own? You will learn to fall in love with your personal practice. You will be provided with a set of sequences to practice and teach. They will also be the foundation of our learning environment. You will learn new skills and the essentials for sharing Avita Yoga with others.
After successful completion of Avita Yoga Essentials, a minimum 6 month integration time is required before further study. More information will not be helpful until prior knowledge is absorbed and applied. The 200 Hour graduate is encouraged to teach in small group settings (5 to 15 students depending on prior teaching/group experience). Upon completion, the graduate will have a strong home practice, be able to teach to small groups and have a deeper understanding of Self, the cornerstone of a happy and successful student and teacher.
What to Expect
First of all, no prior teaching experience is required. This could very well be your first yoga teacher training ever, and because this is such a unique practice, the less you know about other styles of yoga, the better. Many come to Avita Yoga Essentials with no intention of teaching, and while some find they have a knack and desire to teach, most participate to enhance their understanding of the practice and theory, of which there is a lot.
- 10 hours of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics.
- 70 hours of teaching methodology, practice and theory (why/how Avita Yoga works).
- 10 hours of history, philosophy and professional development (all of which bring purpose to the practice from a more spiritual perspective).
From your own home studio:
- Additionally, there are 100 hours of online practice and 10 hours of home study, journaling and research.
Come prepared to learn with fellow students – each with a unique history of life experiences, patterns and injuries and each eager to work through their trepidation and grow and learn together. If you feel nervous, even terrified of the idea participating in this program, you are not alone! It will take some trust but you will overcome this fear quickly as you discover early on that we are all in this to grow and learn together. Avita Yoga Teacher Trainings are inspired by the diversity of the classroom. If you plan to teach, a diverse population is what you will also see in your classes.
Upon completion, you will graduate with an understanding of your bodily patterns and constitution that limit movement and health. This will help you develop a more fulfilling Avita practice and it will provide the foundation for you to develop the necessary skills to teach to small groups. Avita Yoga rests on a simple, consistent spiritual component that could be summed up with Socrates’ well known aphorism: Know thyself. It is the cornerstone of a happy life.
Your homework will be mostly in the form of personal practice, but there will be required reading and small research oriented assignments. Most trainees find that they naturally gravitate to a home practice which will be supported with online video and written class plans. How much and how often you practice is up to you. You will be asked to journal your findings as you experience the changes taking place in your body and mind.
As a way to access the healing nature of the mind, we will use The Yoga Sutras and the timeless classic by Herman Hesse, Siddhartha. You will be given thought provoking questions to help you journal get the most of this reading. All trainees will receive prewritten class plans and a training manual.
It’s not only what is taught, it’s how it is taught.
Why become an Avita Yoga® teacher?
Come to this training to learn how to learn about yourself, to grow with others and to draw out the innate gifts you didn’t know you had—gifts that you were meant to share, regardless of the teaching level you decide upon. You will develop teaching skills and learn how to share something unique and personal to all. We each have gifts to share and we will undoubtedly learn a lot from each other.
The training takes place over a 6-month period and includes both online and classroom components. There are 100 hours of online learning and practice, and three 4-day weekends (scheduled at the beginning, middle and end of the training). You are encouraged to attend all three, but only two are required (some traveling trainees choose to extend their stay to practice and observe with us in the classroom). During their time in Boulder, trainees will mentor with existing Avita Yoga teachers, observe their classes and practice with them. We learn and grow together.
To make this revolutionary practice available to people far and wide, and to help trainees best comprehend the amount of information, the Avita Yoga® Essentials Training is comprised of two components: online and hands-on. Avita Yoga Essentials consists of approximately:
• 100 hours of online video instruction
• 90 hours of classroom learning and apprenticing at our Boulder, CO schools
• 10 hours of homework in the form of reading, writing, and research.
Life happens and sometimes trainees are not able to attend all of the classroom hours. All classroom teachings will be video recorded and can thus be used to makeup missed class time.
Objective and Materials
In addition to practice and theory, you will learn essential anatomy and physiology as it relates to the practice. There will be sections on the spiritual aspects of the practice where “spiritual” is defined as anything that brings you closer to lasting peace and clarity which makes the entire study relevant and practical. We will use the classic story of Siddhartha by Herman Hesse as our lead-in to the spiritual aspect of the practice. Siddhartha (Shambhala Publications) is the story of a young man working through the trials and tribulations of life—to know thyself—the goal of anyone on the awakening journey. We’ll discuss supporting correlations in The Yoga Sutras as well. Along with a basic anatomy book, these are the only necessary reading materials. Along with an Avita Teachers Manual, students will be provided with 50 Avita Yoga class plans that are designed to inform you, the aspiring teacher on the essentials of the practice while providing a formula for rich and positive change for students you begin to work with along the way. The purpose of the training is to inform you as a student and as a teacher. Thus, the aspiration to teach is not a requirement for the training. What matters is the desire to learn and grow as a student. How you are destined to share the practice with others is often revealed during or later after the training is complete.
As a student, Avita Yoga Essentials is designed to help you:
- Understand your body and it’s patterns and restrictions.
- Gain a practical and helpful understanding of anatomy and physiology.
- Draw out limiting beliefs where they can be transformed into something helpful.
- Move further along your inner healing journey and to understand that we all have one. In a sense, this is our shared life-work.
- Develop a better understanding the the Avita practice and how it applies to you and your body
As a teacher, the training is designed to help you:
- Draw out your sometimes hidden talents and aspirations.
- Understand how there have been no accidents in your journey and that everything can be repurposed to make you a skilled teacher.
- Develop your voice, the one you use to inspire yourself as you inspire others.
- Cultivate deeper healing for yourself as you help others. We cannot help others unless we include ourselves.
- Develop leadership skills that help you hold the container of the classroom whether with one student or many.

Located in Boulder, Colorado, Yoga Loft has two locations. One is situated near the foot of Boulder’s famous Flatirons and the other in Northeast Boulder. Both are surrounded by great eateries and coffee shops, with two full service grocery stores nearby.
200 Hour —Avita Yoga® Essentials 2020
The training kicks off in June with the group coming together for the first of three 4-day weekends in Boulder. Two of the three are required and one could be made-up by viewing it online as they will be recorded and posted to the student portal. We have found over the years, that trainees appreciate being able to review class information.

Upon registration and deposit you will get access to Avita Online so you can begin practicing wherever you are—an important ingredient to becoming a great teacher.
This 200-hour training takes place over 6 months with about 100 hours of online study and practice. Trainees attending the 4-day hands-on weekends sometimes choose to extend their stay to practice and observe with us in the classroom.
